Francis G. Van Slyck, age 90 died Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the Silver Lake Center in Dover. Born in Pittsfield, MA he was the son of the late Francis and Mary Northrup Van Slyck. Mr. Van Slyck was a WW-2 Veteran and had served as a Submariner in the U.S. Navy. He had worked as a Building Inspector in Scodack, New York until his retirement at which time he had moved to Florida. It was there where he met and married his current wife, Virginia Barbour Schmidt, in 2002.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his first wife, Louise Toupence Van Slyck, who died in 1990. Frank leaves his wife, Virginia Schmidt Van Slyck of Dover, DE, two sons; William Van Slyck of Ballston, NY, Francis (Bud) Van Slyck, III of Delanson, NY and daughter, Pat McDonald of Rensselaer, NY. Five step children; Richard (Dick) Schmidt of Landenberg, PA, Kathy Schmidt of Afton, VA, Bob Schmidt of Broken Arrow, OK, Bill Schmidt of Tulsa, OK, and Steve Schmidt of Dover, DE. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Two special nieces, Gloria Gallegos of CT, and Patty White of Dover, DE.
