Georgia Lee De Marie, of Ocean View, DE, died Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Atlantic Shores Nursing and Rehab Center in Millsboro, DE. Her age was 82. She had formerly been a resident of Brandywine Assisted Living in Selbyville, DE. Born in Dover, DE, Lee was the daughter of the late Herbert and Emily (Saxton) Hughes. She was a graduate of Caesar Rodney High School, class of 1951, was a cheerleader, and was active in sports. Lee had many friends from Dover, Sussex County, and Melbourne Beach, FL. Mrs. De Marie and her husband Louis were in the Real Estate and Land Development business. Lee was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and she will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents, Lee was predeceased by her husband, Louis E. De Marie, her sister, Judith Hughes Stachecki, and her brother, Herbert E. Hughes, Jr.
She is survived by her two daughters, Becky De Marie and husband Joe Thigpen, of Alachua, FL, and Mary Spivak, and husband Jonathan, of Bethany Beach, DE; two sons, Louis E. De Marie, of Indiatlantic, FL, and Peter P. De Marie, II, and his wife Heather, of Ocean View, DE. Lee is also survived by two grandchildren, Valon V. Vitilio and Peter De Marie III, and two great grandchildren, Bethany De Marie and Peter De Marie IV, as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends in Delaware and Florida.
Friends may call on February 19, 2016 beginning at 10 am at The Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State Street, Dover, DE, where a Service will be held at 11 am. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover. Condolences may be forwarded via www.ambruso.com
