Obituary for Marie Kozel
Marie E. Kozel of Dover, DE, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022 from natural causes, at the age of 87. She was born in Philadelphia, PA on September 8, 1935 to the late Richard and Beatrice (Hearst) Weis.
Marie grew up in the Olney neighborhood of Philadelphia where she met and married her beloved husband, the late John Kozel, Jr. The couple moved to Dover, DE where they raised a beautiful family of six children. Marie was a school librarian and children were enthralled by her animated storytelling. Strong in her faith, she was an active member of Holy Cross Parish.
Marie was devoted to her family and a good friend to many. She will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her son John, (& Mary Ann) Kozel of Newark, DE; son, Thomas (& Nancy) Kozel of Melbourne, FL; son, Richard Kozel of Annapolis, MD; son James Kozel of Hartly, DE; son Paul (& Marne) Kozel of Smyrna, DE and daughter, Marie Kozel of Dover, DE; and ten grandchildren, Jacqueline Kozel Cellucci, Jessica Kozel, Amanda Pendry, Ryan Kozel, Emily Kozel Grindstaff, Bruce Kozel, Michael Kozel, Jonathan Kozel, Kathryn Kozel and Emma Kozel, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband and parents, Marie was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Weis and sister, Beatrice A. Vogler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 31, 2022 at 10:00 AM in Holy Cross Church, 631 South State Street, Dover, DE. Burial will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover.
Instead of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN), 5817 Old Leeds Road, Irondale, AL 35210.
