Mary Ellen Skuse – Dover
Mary Ellen Skuse, 78, passed away at her residence on Thursday December 1, 2022.
She was born and raised in Rochester, NY, the daughter of the late William and Emma (Cahill) Anderson.
Mary Ellen was a 1964 graduate of St. Joe’s Nursing School of Elmira, NY. She began her nursing career in Strong Memorial Hospital of Rochester, NY and later was a E.R Nurse and Supervisor at Clifton Springs Hospital in Clifton Springs, NY until 1996. She moved to Dover, DE in 2003 and would finish her career with the office of Dr. Jose Austria.

Mary Ellen married Robert Skuse in 1989 and in 2003 they moved to Planters Run in Dover, DE and recently moved to Harmony at Kent in Dover.

Mary Ellen was an active member of Deep Water Church, Wyoming, DE. She spent many hours volunteering to help others and always looked forward to the many trips taken, especially the times spent at Thousand Island, NY. Mary Ellen always had a spot in her heart for animals, especially her dog Toby who passed in 2021. Over the years she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Mary Ellen is survived by her dedicated and loving husband Robert Skuse. 5 children: Curtis F. Sanger, III, William J. Sanger, Paul N. Sanger, Thomas F. Sanger, and Melanie A. Vazquez-Garcia. 4 Grandchildren: Curtis F. Sanger IV, Sebastian Sanger, Lyle A. Durkee, and Alise D. Durkee . Special friends: John (JP) and Rhonda Lanni, and Erika Murdaugh .

The family would like to thank the staff of Harmony at Kent, Eden Hill Rehabilitation Center and Delaware Hospice for the excellent care given to Mary Ellen.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2PM Saturday December 17, 2022 at The Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St., Dover where friends may begin calling at 1PM. The service will be streamed on Zoom https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85954724914.
