Herbert (Herb) Harrison passed away peacefully on March 21, 2022 at Silver Lake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Dover, Delaware.
Herb was born August 28, 1932, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Albert Jennings Bryan Harrison and Viola Jenny Souders Harrison.
Learning carpentry and boat building from his father, Herb joined the U.S. Marine Corps 1951-1954 as a Carpenter and later joining the Naval Reserves until 1966. After, Herb spent several years as a police officer in Sparrows Point, Maryland, he went on to own and operate his own businesses.
Finally in 2007, after 18 years of working for The State of Maryland Department of Corrections, Herb retired.
Moving from Baltimore, Maryland to Millsboro, Delaware, and finally Dover, Delaware.
Herb had a passion for the Eastern Shore, boating, fishing and crabbing.
In his spare time he would use his carpentry and wood working skills to build small working replicas of “working boats” of the Eastern Shore and carvings of the waterfowl.
A man of many talents he painted and drew many beautiful portraits and scenes.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Most of all, he will be remembered for his love of music and singing.
Herb was preceded in death by brothers, Albert, John (Jack) and Harry Harrison; his sisters, Jane Smick, Alice McCollum, Dorthy Stein, Mary Forcy, and Ethster Scowden; wife Sandra Lee (Kirkendall) Harrison; and son Alan Michael Harrison.
He is survived by his sister, Nancy Harrison Party; children Herbert G. Harrison, Brenda L. (Harrison) Cross, and Stephen M. Harrison; Step-sons, Dennis Knight and Kevin Knight; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
