Doris M. Thompson – Milford
Doris M. Thompson, age 87, passed away August 19th at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. Doris was born in Wilmington, DE on June 30, 1934, the daughter of the late Elmer and Edith Hall Pierson.
She began a career as a seamtress and later would work in the Dietary Dept. at Memorial Hospital of Wilmington. Doris later moved to the Dover area and worked on Dover AFB as a Dietary-Cook from 1972 until 1974. She than began a long career with Playtex from 1974 until her retirement in December of 1999.
Doris enjoyed traveling and gatherings with her family, watching game shows and old movies. She also liked playing Pinochle, taking walks, sitting outside and people watching, and listening to old country music. Her times spent with grandchildren and great-grandchildren would always brighten her day.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband John Thompson, Sr. in 1989, a sister Betty Stewart, 4 children: Terry Thompson, John Thompson, Jr., Herbert Thompson, and Doris Brady, 3 grandchildren: Michael Thompson, Marie Kemp, and John Thompson III, and 2 great- great-grandchildren.
Doris is survived by her children, Louis W. Thompson (Roz) and Patricia Kemp and 7 grandchildren:
Jennifer Kemp, Robert Thompson, Renee' Alley (Bud), Emily Thompson (Fiance' Walt Heller), Valerie Murray, Frank Kemp III (Jessi), Kelly Thompson.
19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great- great-grandchilden
