Obituary for Vernon Edward Jones Sr.
Vernon E. Jones, Sr. formerly of Vincentown, NJ, died Wednesday April 7, 2021 at his residence in Dover, DE. His age was 102.
He was born in Camden, NJ to the late Vernon and Olive Nancy Jones.
Mr. Jones served as Glider Pilot with the 326th Glider Infantry during World War II. After an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army, he later worked for the Hercules Powder Co. of New Jersey and retired as plant engineer in 1982.
He was a prolific wood carver and also enjoyed fishing.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Caroline Jones in 1983 and his brother Harry Jones in 2002.
He is survived by his son Vernon E. Jones, Jr. (Beth) of Texas and Clifford A. Jones (Carmella) of Dover, DE. 8 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.
