Obituary for David A Baszkowski

David Anthony Baszkowski, 42, passed away peacefully in his sleep February 19, 2020 at his home in Magnolia, Delaware. He was born on August 11, 1977 in Teaneck, New Jersey. David moved from Cliffside Park to Point Pleasant, where he spent most of his childhood and was a loud and proud “Jersey Boy”. He was a meathead at heart and participated in many sports including football, baseball, wrestling and basketball. David received his B.S in Physical Education from Wesley College in Dover, Delaware where he proudly played under his favorite coach and mentor Michael Drass as well as Chip Knapp for 3 seasons. He was an educator for 16 years in the Caesar Rodney School District while earning his Master’s Degree in Secondary Educational Counseling. He was coach and mentor to many young adults and was fondly known as “Coach Baz” to all his students, athletes and adults alike. In 2008 he coached his boys to victory to win the title of 2008 Division 1 State Champions. Most recently he worked for Shoreline Vinyl Systems in Denton, Maryland as a Fencing Sales Representive. He was a sports fanatic; he loved his boys in pinstripes The New York Yankees (who he predicts to win the World Series in 2020) and The New York Jets (hoping they don’t come in last for the 2020 season). David had a vivacious personality, was always the life of the party and was a true friend to all.
He is survived by his soulmate who he affectionately referred to as his “Cioci”, Krista Durbano (Magnolia, DE), his mother and step-father Aniela and Robert Aponte (Stuart, FL) , his father and step-mother, Thomas and Carole Baszkowski (Toms River, NJ), a brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Mary Baszkowski (Point Pleasant, NJ); step-sister, Laura Aponte (East Rutherford, NJ) and step-brother, Michael Haoui (Toms River, NJ). He will also be fondly remembered by his nephews, Bobby and Tommy (Point Pleasant, NJ) and his “Rue Crew”. He was a beloved father of 2 and also had an unfailing bond to his fur babies, Zyggy and Camby who will truly miss him. We will all carry is heart in all of ours for eternity.
Friends and family are invited to attend visiting hours at the Michael J Ambruso Funeral Home in Dover on Wednesday, February 26 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and on Thursday, February 27 from 8:30am to 9:30am. A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, February 27, at the Church of the Holy Cross on State Street in Dover, Delaware.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of David to the “Wesley College Football”, Wesley College, 120 North State Street, Dover, DE 19901, Box 1-4.
