George J. Hanhauser, III, age 76, of Dover, DE. passed away peacefully on December 21, 2018 at the Milford Center Genesis with his wife and daughter in attendance. Born in Abington, PA he was the son of the late George J. Hanhauser, II and Marjorie Mc Caughan Hanhauser. He was a graduate of St. Rose High School of Carbondale, PA and was a graduate of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. George had served as General/ Contract Manager for Fab-Weld Corp. of Simpson, PA, CMC Corp. of Cheswold, and Contract Manager at ILC in Frederica, DE. He was a member of the Kent County Crime Watch and had formerly served with the Knights of Columbus Council # 4182. He enjoyed the Sunshine, going to the Beach, Fishing, Gardening and treasured most of all the time spent with his family as he was proud of his children and grandchildren. George leaves his loving wife of 53 years, Eileen K. Hanhauser, his three children, Col. George J. Hanhauser, IV, US Army and wife Erin,, Karen A. Merson and husband Michael and daughter Gretchen M. Allen and husband Harry. Also survived by his grandchildren; Kelly and Claire Hanhauser, Rachel Merson, Elise, Stella, Stanley, Jack and Bernadette Allen. Also survived by his brother John F. Hanhauser and sister Marjorie M. Zeliff and three special children; Michelle Duffy Donohoe, Vickie Ellickson and Zachery Merson. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 6 until 8 pm at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St. Dover, DE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday at 10 am at Holy Cross Church, 631 S. State St., Dover followed by Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover.
