Obituary for Viola M Loomis (Geri)

Viola Mae Loomis (nee) Geri 87, past away peacefully on September 3, 2018 at Silver Lake Nursing Home, Dover. Born June 4, 1931 in Pensacola, Fl to the late Archie and Genevieve Geri. She was a Southern Belle captured by a Yankee Sailor in 1953 and remained married for over 65 years. Mrs. Loomis was mostly a stay at home mother and housewife and served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and a Brownie Leader. She held several positions throughout her life which included being a Certified Nursing Assistant, a substitute teacher, and a cook. She also worked briefly for Hallmark Greeting Cards and Salvation Army both of Dover. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, cooking, dancing, a good TV show and most of all spending time with her family and friends.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her 2 sons Thomas Loomis in 2000 and Stephen Loomis in 2012. Survived by her loving husband Bill Loomis and her daughter Donna Phillips-DiMaria (Peter) both of Dover, brother Chris Geri of Pensacola, Fl., two daughter-in-laws, Marlene Loomis of Felton, De and Robyn Schenkenberger (Tom) of New Jersey, 4 grandchildren Michelle, Kara(Jack), Laurel(Emmanuel), Tyler and one great grandchild Eloise. She is also survived by 2 brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6PM to 8PM Thursday September 6th followed by Life End Services at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St. Dover, De. Interment will take place 11:00 AM Friday September 7th at The Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, De.
