Obituary for Adele J. Majka

Adele J. Majka, 96, of Dover, DE died October 11, 2017. Born in Phila., PA., she was the daughter of the late Casmir and Jeanette Betzmer Przybylowski. Adele was a graduate of Hallahan High School of Phila, Pa. In 1943 she was selected as Senior of the Year and received The Dorothy Fenton Award at Chestnut Hill College where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and Art. Upon moving to Dover in 1966 she had taught second grade at the Kenton Elementary School and later taught Art at Holy Cross School in Dover. She had been a faithful and generous member of Holy Cross Church where she served on numerous committees throughout the years. She had served on the Parish Council, the Blessed Virgin Mary Sociality, the Samaritans, the Liturgy Committee and was one of the founders of the Bingo Night at Holy Cross. Adele was a member of the American Association of United Women and was a past recipient of Delaware Woman Of The Year. She enjoyed gardening and flower arranging.
A kind and generous woman, Adele will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Henry Matthew Majka and her four brothers,
Casmir, Eugene, Thaddeus, and Edward Przybylowski. Adele leaves her children, Eric H. Majka of Dover, DE., Nadine Adele of Des Moines, IA, Kurt D. Majka of Southern Pines, NC., Alan G. Majka of Southern Pines, NC., and Renee Majka Clifton and her husband, Patrick, of Franklinton, NC.
Also survived by two grandchildren, Noel Majka of Magnolia, DE., and Aleksandra Majka of Southern Pines NC. Friends may call Tuesday eve. October 17, 2017 from 6 until 8 pm at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St., Dover, DE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017 at 12 noon at Holy Cross Church, 631 S. State St., Dover, DE. Interment
will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover. Family suggests either flowers or donations to the Adele Przybylowski Majka Scholarship (Chestnut Hill College Germantown, PA c/o Kimberly Yost Moyer
