Obituary for Pedro F. Fernandez

Pedro F.  Fernandez
Pedro “Pete” Fernandez, 91, of Dover, DE, died peacefully, with his family by his side on Friday, Feb. 3. He was born to Vicente and Gertrudes Fernandez in Tayug, Pangasinan, Philippines. Pete attended the University of Santo Tomas, where he graduated with a Law degree. Pete and his family moved and settled in Dover in 1969. He worked for many years as the Director of Management Services with the Delaware State Dept. of Labor before retiring in 1987. He was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4182 and a 4th Degree member of the Bishop Cartwright Assembly. He and his late wife, Nelly, were devoted members of Holy Cross Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister throughout the years. They were also active members of the Alliance of Two Hearts and Dover Modern Maturity Center. Throughout the years, Pete enjoyed travel and ballroom dancing with his late wife, Nelly. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed the company of his family and a wide circle of friends. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.


Besides his parents, Pete was predeceased by his wife, Rebecca, and his son, Robert. He is survived by his two sons, Edgar and his wife Teresa, of Salisbury, MD; Rick and his partner Werner, of Zurich, Switzerland; and loving daughter Vicky Yaholkovsky and son-in-law, Tony, of Rocklin, CA; and daughter-in-law, Mildred of Aliso Viejo, CA. Pete is also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Eric and Marc, children of Edgar; Jourden, Ryan and Merissa, children of Robert; and Andrei, married to Becky, and Natasha, married to Jacob, children of Vicky.


Friends may call Tuesday evening, February 7, 2017 from 6 until 8 PM at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St. Dover, DE. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 AM on Wednesday at Holy Cross Church, 631 S. State St., Dover. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover, DE.
