Judith Nogara Goldhammer, age 79, of Dover, DE, died peacefully on March 21, 2016, at Delaware Hospice Center as a result of a sudden stroke suffered six days earlier. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Albert Goldhammer (2007); her cherished son, Paul Goldhammer (2015); and her brother, Joseph Powers (2010). Judy is survived by her dearly loved daughter-in-law, Gretchen Goldhammer, and grandson, Ethan, of Van Nuys, CA; her sister, Cecilia Mickey (East Windsor, CT), and her sister and brother-in-law, Edith Ferrante and John Beasley (Springfield, VA); nine nieces and nephews, and many friends in Delaware. Born and raised in Washington, Judy was a graduate of Rosary College (Dominican University) and received a masters from DePaul University. She was a Sinsinawa Dominican Sister for 16 years and taught mathematics in secondary schools run by the Order. Following her marriage to Al in 1972, they lived in Haddonfield, NJ, and then moved to Dover. She taught at Delaware Technical Community College Terry Campus from 1979 until her retirement in 1994. She was an active member of Holy Cross parish in Dover, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Judy was also a devoted volunteer for Delaware Hospice in the Dover area for 14 years. A funeral Mass will be offered at Holy Cross Church, 631 S. State St., Dover, DE at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 28, 2016.
