Patricia C. Vogler, age 83 of Dover, De. died December 18, 2012. Born in Elizabeth, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George S. Cavanaugh and Elsie Walker Cavanaugh. She was raised and lived in Morgantown, W. VA . and had graduated from the University of West Virginia where she received her Bachelors Degree in Education. She later participated in Graduate Studies at the Delaware State College in Dover, DE.
After living in several states she and her family had moved from the Woodbury, NJ area to Dover in 1960. She taught Junior English at Ceasar Rodney High School, was an 8th Grade Homeroom and English teacher at Holy Cross School. Her final teaching position was as a 6th Grade Math and Science teacher at Star Hill Elementary, a position from which she retired in 1989.
Mrs. Vogler had been an active member of Holy Cross Parish for over 52 years and had served as a volunteer at Kent General Hospital and the Dover Modern Maturity Center Meals On Wheels program. She had been an avid Bridge Player with the Newcomers Bridge Club at the Century Club in Dover and was a Life Master of Duplicate Bridge. She had also been a longtime member of the Kent Swim Club of Dover.
She is survived by her husband, John J. Vogler of Dover, DE along with three children; Ellen M. Heath of Atlanta, GA, John J. Vogler, Jr. of Tolland CT. and Diane E. Myers of Charlottsville, VA. Also survived by her brother Joseph M. Cavanaugh of Morgantown, West VA and two sisters, Kathleen F. Cavanaugh and Rheda C. Wanstreet both of Atlanta, GA. Mrs. Vogler also leaves her loving grandchildren; Christa A. McManus of Columbia CT., John J. Vogler of Tolland, CT., Katherine S. Myers and Carolyn J. Myers both of Charlottesville, VA and two great grandchildren, Gavin T. and Declan J. McManus of Columbia, CT.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Holy Cross Catholic Church S. State St. Dover, De. where friends may call starting at 9 A.M. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover, DE. Family suggests donations to the Good Samaritans of Holy Cross, 631 S.
