Louis Henry Jara, 83 of Dover, Delaware passed away on Monday, October 22, 2012. He was born to the late Louis Zenon Jara and Marie Raymond Jara on February 26, 1929 in Philadelphia. He graduated from Saint James High School in Chester, Pa and joined the Air Force. He served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He graduated from Delaware State College after he retired from the Air Force and earned a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education. Louis married Grace Passer in 1956 and they had three children: Louis Victor, Victoria Rita and Mildred Ann. He was an active parishioner at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dover where he served as an usher at the 7:30 Mass. He also served as a catechist, proud to pass on his faith. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed bowling for their team on Wednesday evenings. Louis enjoyed cooking at parish events, volunteering at the Dover Air Force Base Pharmacy and travelling to vacations at the Outer Banks with his family. His grandchildren can attest to his sense of humor and love of practical jokes. In addition to his parents, Louis was preceded in death by his son Louis Victor and his brother Ray Jara. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Grace Passer Jara; his daughters Victoria Frazier and her husband James of Magnolia; Mildred Anderson and her husband Robert of Bordentown, NJ and their children Matthew, Timothy and Victoria; his daughter in law Sussanne Jara of Dover and her children Kimberly and Anthony; his sisters Marie Nickle of Massachusetts; Dolores Throne of Ridley Park, PA; Margaret Mary Berger and her husband William of Folcroft, PA; his brothers Joseph Jara and his wife Rosemary of Hammonton, NJ; Robert Jara and his wife Barbara of Lansdowne, PA and his sister-in-law Helen Jara of Boynton Beach, FLA. Relatives and friends may call Friday, October 26th, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St. Dover, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. precisely. Entombment in Holy Cross Mausoleum will be private.
