Obituary for William F Whitaker

William F  Whitaker
William F. Whitaker, age 88, of Dover, DE. died December 13, 2017. Born in Shannon, GA., he was the son of the late John F. Whitaker and Ruby Jean Hanners Whitaker. He was a WW-2, Korean and Vietnam
Veteran with over 20 years of Service in the US Navy. Upon his discharge from Active Duty Chief Petty Officer Whitaker transferred to Naval Reserves Manpower Center in Corpus Christie, TX and later at the US Naval Reserve Manpower Center in Bainbridge, MD. He later worked at the US Post Office in Newark, DE. He was a longtime member of the Del Vets in Bear, DE. and enjoyed Boating and Fishing. Mr. Whitaker was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed the company of his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by those whose life he touched. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Teresa in 2004, daughter, Virginia S. Whitaker in 2015, and his grandson, Thomas Marsh in 2012. Mr. Whitaker leaves his son, William Mark Whitaker and companion, Cheryl Swan of Viola, DE. and his daughter, Kathleen Marsh and her husband, Philip, of Wilmington, DE. along with three sisters, Jean Forrest of Mountville, S.C., Joyce Hadaway of West Point, GA. and Shirley Davis of Valley, AL. Also survived by his four grandchildren; Jeffrey M. Whitaker, Benjamin Whitaker, Erik Marsh and Kristine Marsh. Relatives and friends are invited to Services at 2:pm on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 in the Chapel at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE. followed by Burial with Honors. Family suggest donations in his memory to Wounded Warriors P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, KS. 66675. (include your name and address) Arrangements are by Michael J. Ambruso Funeral Director, Inc.
