Obituary for Cynthia L. Hinkle (Looney)

Cynthia L. Hinkle of Dover, DE passed from this earth into the Kingdom of Heaven on November 17, 2017. Born into a Military Family, Cindy spent her childhood years traveling to CA, Hawaii and eventually settling in Dover, DE in 1969. She briefly lived in Boston, MA where her only child, Amy R. Piolunek was born. She had battled Stage IV Lung Cancer until she departed this life at age 59.
Born in Charleston, SC she was the daughter of the late Charles L. and Irene M. Grant Looney. In 1995 she had earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Delaware State University and had worked as a Registered Nurse at the Delaware Hospital Chronically Ill retiring in 2015 due to health issues. In her younger years she had worked as a Bartender in local pubs where she had met the love of her life, Charlie W. Hinkle, Jr. They were truly in love and shared their hearts and love for each other for the next 26 years. Cindy especially enjoyed traveling to Orange Beach, Al., Gardening, Bird Watching, Traveling, and had a special love for animals. She was a lifetime member of Holy Cross Church where she participated with the Adoration Society. She had also been a member of The Holy Cross Sodality. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her 2 sisters, Patricia Looney and Cassandra Looney. Cindy leaves her husband, Charlie W. Hinkle of Dover, DE, her daughter, Amy R. Piolunek of Orange Beach, AL, and her step-daughter, Nicole and spouse Dave Harmon of Hartly, DE. Also survived by her sister, Teresa M. Looney and her spouse Barbara Flahart of Orange Beach, AL.
5 grandchildren, Kylee Patricia Rummell, Miles, Chase, Maryn, and Maggie Harmon and 2 nieces. Danielle Jones and Danyelle Hinkle. Friends may call Monday evening Nov. 27, 2017 from 6 until 8 pm at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St. Dover, DE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10 am on Tuesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St. Dover. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Family suggests donations in her memory to the Senior Dog Haven, PO Box 1441 Wilmington, DE 19899 or to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way Milford, DE 19963.
