Obituary for Roslyn Scott (Jacobs)

Scott, Roslyn “Roz” (Jacobs), of West Roxbury, MA, formerly of Dover, DE, on July 19, 2017. Beloved wife of the late George E. Scott. Devoted mother of Alice Casey Pressey and her husband Michael J. Pressey. David Casey and his wife Lucy D. Casey, Barbara Zatarain, & Flo Scott-Hiser and her partner Alycia Scott-Hiser. Cherished stepmother of Linda Scott and her husband Marty Weissman, and Susan Hansen and her husband Tom. Cherished grandmother of Jacob and Casey Smith, Jeremy James, Alexia, Daniel, and Samantha Zatarian, Harper “Grace” Scott-Hiser, Mark and Paul Matthews, Regina Bass, John Beam, and Michelle Semrad. Proud great grandmother of Zev David Smith, Joel and Julia Bass, Claire Beam, and Connor and Madison Matthews. Roz is survived by devoted friend Pat Mulally, and Moreno Guzman. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, and spent childhood in N. Bergen, NJ, eventually moving to Greenwich Village actively participating in social causes, eventually moving to Dover Delaware with her husband “Scotty” and finally landing in West Roxbury, MA. In Dover she worked as a cosmetician and an Avon rep, as well as owning “Roots & Branches” plant shop. She was very active at Temple Beth Shalom in Dover, and was a former Sisterhood President. For the past 16 years she’s been a beloved member of Temple Hillel B’Nai Torah in West Roxbury. Roz was known as the ‘Challah Lady” at the Newton JCC. She had love for theatre, the game of scrabble, cats, and reading. Her vivacious personality and warmth will be missed by her community of friends and loving family. Interment will take place at the Sharon Hills cemetery (Dover, DE), on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Roz’s memory may be made to Planned Parenthood, 1055 Comm. Ave., Boston, MA 02215, The MA ACLU, 211 Congress St, Boston, MA 02110, or to any anti trump Campaign.
