Obituary for Andrew Joseph Zammetti

Andrew Joseph Zammetti
Andrew J. Zammetti, age 83, of Dover, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Bayhealth Medical Center in Dover. Born in Far Rockaway, NY, he was the son of the late Andrew J. and Helene (Carnamolla) Zammetti. Andy served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 until 1955 and was a veteran of the Korean War. He later had worked as a Water Plant Operator in NJ and retired after 36 years. During Andy’s retired years, he enjoyed traveling, flying his ultralight, boating, and cherished his time spent with family, friends and Amish friends. He spent his retirement as a driver for the Amish and when not driving he was flying his ultralight. When Andy would fly over the Amish community, he used to drop candy to the Amish children and became known to everyone as “Candy Andy”. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.

Besides his parents, Andy was preceded in death by his loving wife Nancy Zammetti, in 2009.

He is survived by his son, Joseph A. Zammetti and wife Donna of Milford, DE; and his granddaughter, Emily Rosa of Milford, DE.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Michael J. Ambruso Funeral Director, Inc., located at 1175 S. State St., Dover, DE. A Memorial Service will follow at 7 p.m. The Internment will take place on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 1 p.m. in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, DE.
