Rita B. Boaman, 101, formerly of Dover, DE, died September 1, 2016 in Sanford, Fl.
Born in Reading, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Cullen) Rettew.
Mrs. Boaman moved from PA to Dover, DE with her husband in 1952 where the family established Boaman’s Gift Shop. In addition to helping in the gift shop, Mrs. Boaman raised four children and was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who delighted in the time spent with her family and friends. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling, crocheting and was an avid walker. In later years with vision failing, she became the family’s “prayer warrior” saying multiple rosaries most every day for all those in need of God’s good graces. She was a woman with unflinching faith and a humble heart, a kind and gentle person who will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Richard A. Boaman, Sr. and her son Richard A. Boaman, Jr.
Mrs. Boaman leaves her children; Therese R.“Candy” Brown (Scott) of Sanford FL, Gregory P. Boaman (Debbie) of West Chester, PA, Martin C. Boaman (Liz) of Dover, DE, and her daughter in-law Ann D. Boaman of Knoxville, TN. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 10 a.m. in Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St. Dover, DE. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorials may be made through a donation to The ALS Association by visiting www.alsa.org Life’s End Services are by Michael J.
