Obituary for Mary Margaret Dougherty (Sullivan)

Mary Margaret (Peggy) Dougherty, age 72, of Dover, DE died April 10, 2016 at her residence. Born in Manhattan, NY, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Florence (Doherty) Sullivan.

Mrs. Dougherty was predeceased by her husband David J. Dougherty.

Mrs. Dougherty graduated from Syracuse University and taught home economics in the Ridgefield, CT school system from 1965 to 2002. She moved to Dover, DE in 2005.

Mrs. Dougherty had many interests, including shopping and organized activities such as bocce, bingo, bunco, mahjong, and shuffleboard. Mostly, she enjoyed being around her family and friends. Mrs. Dougherty was a member of the Junior Women’s Club, the Women’s Club of Danbury/New Fairfield, and Women of the Elks.

Mrs. Dougherty is survived by her loving daughter, Deborah A. Dougherty, her son-in-law Scott A. Ehrlich, and her two grandchildren, Samantha and Meghan Ehrlich of West Chester, PA. She is also survived by her older brother, Thomas E. Sullivan and sister-in-law Kaye Sullivan of Prescott, AZ, and her younger brother John K. Sullivan of Northport, NY, and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 12 Noon on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Holy Cross Church, 631 S. State St. Dover where friends may call starting at 11 AM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reeds Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720. Life’s End Services are by Michael J.
