Obituary for Leah Bat Tzvi

Leah Bat Tzvi
Linda Phyllis Konowitz, 77, of Dover, died suddenly on February 21, 2016 at a rehabilitation hospital in Middletown in the midst of cardiac rehabilitation from mitral heart valve replacement surgery.
Linda was born in Brooklyn, NY to Edna and Harry Swartzman on December 23, 1938. She graduated from George W. Hewlett High School in 1956, and attended Tufts University in Medford, MA. She went on to earn a degree in Criminal Justice from Delaware Technical Community College. She and her husband were owners of Milford Stitching Company in Milford, DE. Linda married the love of her life, Herbert Konowitz, on December 20, 1958; they were married 57 years. They have resided in Dover for over 50 years. Linda was an avid reader, a talented chef, a lover of fashion, innovation, and travel, and a connoisseur of fine and casual cuisines – near and far. She and Herb would often make a day trip simply for a well-made crab cake or to get their fix of Peking duck or dim sum from a regional China Town. During her recent years, she had been an active volunteer with Hospice as well Dover Interfaith Mission for Housing and a member of Junior Board at Kent General Hospital in Dover for over 40 years.

Besides her husband, Linda leaves her two children, Chip Konowitz of Amherst, MA, and Cindy Konowitz of Hartly, DE, and her sister Beth Schatman of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, two beloved grandchildren, Chaitan and Vaishali, and nine nieces and nephews. She also leaves her daughter-in-law Sujata Rege Konowitz and son-in-law Bryan Kobza.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 26, 2016 at 11:00am at Congregation Beth Sholom, 340 North Queen Street, Dover, where she served as a former member of the Board of Directors. Burial will follow at Sharon Hills Memorial Park. Life's End Services are by Michael J. Ambruso Funeral Director, Inc. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Congregation Beth Sholom, 340 North Queen Street, Dover, DE 19904. Condolences may be forwarded via www.ambruso.com
