Obituary for Raymond H. Payn

Raymond H. Payn, 98, of Hartly, DE, died Sunday, January 24th, 2016 at home. Born in Weathersfield, New York, he was the son of the late Byron Payn and Isabelle McVeigh Payn.
Mr. Payn served in the United States Army during WWII, and continued his service with the National Guard, later retiring with the rank of Captain. Raymond had worked for the Federal Government with the Census Bureau. He was a long time member of The American Legion in Clinton, MD. Raymond held a private pilot's license and enjoyed flying as well as fishing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Besides his parents, Raymond was predeceased by his wife Margaret (Tritapoe) Payn, and his brother, Jean Payn.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Sharon L. Burge, of Hartly, DE; his son, J. Byron Payn and wife Linda, of Cobb Island, MD; 4 Grandchildren, and 5 Great Grandchildren.

Services and Interment will be private. Interment will be in Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, in Cheltenham, MD.
