Viola A. Zapanta, 93 of Dover, De. died peacefully Wednesday, December 9, 2009. Born in the Philippines, she was the daughter of the late Vicente and Macaria Atega. Viola worked as a Registered Nurse in the Philippines until moving to the United States in 1967, where she continued her work in Nursing until her retirement in 1980. She was a member of Holy Cross Church, enjoyed cooking, and cherished the moments spent with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin and her son, Benjamine Zapanta Jr. Viola is survived by three daughters, Emma Donato of Wyoming, De, Evangeline Simbulan of Camden, Delaware and Edith Rodriguez of Cherry Hill, NJ. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday Dec. 13, 2009, at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St. Dover. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 11:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at Holy Cross Church, S. State St. Dover. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover.
