Frank J. Whitaker, 92, of Dover, DE, died October 27, 2014. Born in Coaldale, PA, he was the son of the late Frank and Lena (Kneib) Whitaker. Mr. Whitaker was a POW during WWII and was a veteran of the United States Army. He had been employed by General Foods, retiring in 1977. He was a member of the V.F.W. 1881 in Smyrna, and in his quieter moments he enjoyed building model cars, ships, and planes. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Besides his parents, Mr. Whitaker was predeceased by his wife Santa Whitaker in 2003, and two stepsons, William Galli, and Robert Galli. He is survived by his sister Catherine Whitaker, of NY, a daughter-in-law Catherine Galli, of NY, and his dear friends, Ronald and Beverly Jacobs, of Dover, DE.
Interment with military honors will take place at The Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road in Bear on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Donations in Frank’s Memory may be made to Seasons Hospice, 220 Continental Drive, Newark, DE 19713.
