Obituary for David J. Affholder

David J. Affholder age 77 of Camden, De died September 19, 2013 surrounded by his family. Born in Kalamazoo, MI, he was the son of the late Jerome and Florence Kern Affholder. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and Michigan State University. David entered the U.S. Air Force in 1958 serving in Washington, DC, England, Vietnam, the Philippines and Dover Air Force Base. He retired from Military Service in 1979 and was employed by the Delaware Development Office prior to joining J.P. Morgan as Vice President of Facilities in Delaware, New York, Tokyo, Singapore, Frankfurt and Prague. Upon his retirement from J.P. Morgan he returned to Dover, DE where he served mostly on Civic projects with the Klein Development Corp. of Dover Delaware. He also served as a Consultant for the Delaware Department of Transportation. David also served with several civic organizations and in recent years was a member of the Dover Parking Authority and a volunteer with the Bigg’s Museum. He leaves his partner, Yoshi Tanaka, his son Edward Affholder, two daughters, Katherine Faretra and Ann Baird-Affholder, his ex wife Lois Waters Affholder and 5 grandchildren. There will be no local formal services as Interment will take place in Japan. Family suggests donations in his memory to the Biggs Museum of American Art, 406 Federal St. Dover, DE 19901.
